STILL HERE
STILL HERE, STILL IN MICHIGAN
Summer went by too fast!! But it was a good one, hope everyone is doing good everywhere!
The long awaited BAD INDIANS 45s are almost here! Will be posting them up in here really soon.
Here's a photo of BAD INDIANS:
ALSO COMING SOON: On September 30, Amber and the Ypsi Film Guild had a photo opening at Cafe Ollie. Fred and I performed with our new duo in which we both play drums and electronics. It went really well and we then recorded a new tape which will be a joint release on Ginkgo and Fred's label Life Like.
When we went on SWIMSUIT tour in May we made a cassette box set called the BOX OF SAND, pictured above. It had a tape of our new album, and then we all made new solo records for it, so the other two tapes were splits between members of the band. It turned out really great! I made a record called Let the River Answer which I put up recently over here.
It was a split with Avery Feral, hopefully her side will be up somewhere soon.
Fred's side as CITY CENTER is up over here and Dina's side as SKINNY WRISTS is over here

summer heat
Summer is just rolling right along here!
Swimsuit LPs have finally arrived!! You can order it over at Speakertree Records, or listen to it over at our site. We also stocked it at Encore and the Ypsi Music Shelf at Cafe Ollie in Ypsi.
Bad Indians 45 should be out within a month! More tapes coming soon!
Recently, we can't stop listening to:
The Dovers - I Could Be Happy Fred told me about this amazing group, they were around in 1965 and 1966 in Santa Barbara. They recorded 4 singles and they're all great! It gets better and better with every listen. Byrds-esque but I love it more than I've ever liked the Byrds. At first my favorite of their songs was "What Am I Going To Do" (which is on Nuggets and was sampled by Atlas Sound) but now this one is my jam. Recently reissued on a one sider 12", I can't stop listening to it!
Gardens "Coming Around the Bend" Their long awaited LP is great! But the last couple days I can't stop listening to this song which is a "digital single" on the Beehive Recording Co site. It's embarassing to admit this but I literally listened to this song 5 times in a row while shipping stuff out at work today.
Toshi Ichyanagi - Extended Voices Got this killer LP recently of early electronic/avant garde stuff, it's also called Extended Voices. Here's the title track!
Bush Tetras - Too Many Creeps Got a reissue 45 of this on tour and ever since listening to it constantly! Our friends over at M'Lady's Records just hosted a show for them, wish we could've seen that!
Liquid Liquid - Optimo - Never get tired of this!!
City Center - Modern Love - current favorite from their masterpiece Redeemer on K. Fred just posted a new song today, too - it's really good! It's called Powdered Animal Wig.

Old Night
OLD NIGHT
GINKGO 6, C-30
I found this tape when I was looking for blank tapes to record on. (Unfortunately I don't usually label tapes at all) I have no recollection of recording it, and I questioned whether it was even me. It sounded surprisingly good. Given the circumstances I don't think it could have been anyone else, but I still don't recall anything about it. I can guess that it was recorded at night sometime in 2010 in Ypsilanti.
Basically it's night time psychedelic guitar music. Someone listened to it and said "You made a Spacemen 3 record." Someone else listened to it and said "Are you sure this is you? It sounds like Les Rallizes Denudes." Are those things true? You tell me.
You can order this tape for $6.50 postage paid in the US. International orders please email ginkgorecords2@gmail.com. Or if you don't want to use paypal, email me.
Man the Hunter 7" and other Gingko cassettes are still available. We are now distributing the amazing Petticoats 45! See below for more info on that. Tapes soon by Damned Dogs, the Jobys, & more, and Bad Indians 7" on the horizon.

Now distributing: PETTICOATS 45!!
We are truly overjoyed to have copies of the truly incredible 45 by the Petticoats!!
It's amazing! One woman DIY punk band, who released this 45 in the UK in 1980. Fred described it as "The Slits meets The Who." I really love these songs and I think you will too!
Listen for yourself here:
The Petticoats are Stef Petticoat on guitar, vocals, bass, drums. This record is on Stef's own Bla Bla Bla Records. Those two songs "Normal" and "Allergy" are on the A Side, with another song "I'm Free" on the B Side. (Stef wrote on the back of the record: "This record contains 3 B sides - play loud!")
Front & lyric sheet:
Back & record:
THIS IS NOT A REISSUE. These are original, unplayed copies. I couldn't stop listening to the mp3s of these songs, so I wrote to Stef Petticoat and she still had copies of the record! I ordered a bunch of copies because I know a lot of people who would want one, and since they are shipping from Germany it's more affordable for everyone this way. They each come with an awesome lyric sheet as you can see in the photo above.
Stef Petticoat grew up in Germany and moved to the UK in 1978. She then formed the band Necessary Evil, who can be seen performing "Normal" in the amazing Super 8 footage below!
After Necessary Evil broke up, Stef formed the Petticoats. Check Stef Petticoat's offical website: http://www.stefpetticoat.de
Her official bio is here. I'm currently doing an interview with Stef Petticoat that I will post in this space very very soon!!
(Stef Petticoat photo above from stefpetticoat.de)
If you would like to order a copy, you can get one for $12.50 postage paid in the US. If you don't live in North America, especially if you live in Europe, it probably makes more sense for you to just order one from Stef Petticoat directly. If you live in southeast Michigan and you don't want to pay for shipping, you can buy one for $10. Email me at ginkgorecords2@gmail.com and we can figure that out. (Additional price info here)
Again, any additional questions email ginkgorecords2@gmail.com
